Label me radical, but I don’t think destroying the night sky and burning an enormous amount aluminum and other materials in the atmosphere should make anyone a trillionaire.
A million new SpaceX satellites will destroy the night sky — for everyone on Earth
If SpaceX launches one million new satellites, it will increase atmospheric pollution and risk of falling debris. And we will see more satellites than stars.

We all realize that Elon Musk isn't the only guy who knows how the satellites work, right? If he went away it would be fine. He isn't even ONE of the guys who knows how satellites work, his role is demolishing regulations that say that people with satellites have to use them responsibly.

Everything is disposable now—even satellites. Companies profit from launching them, replacing them, and burning them up in our atmosphere, while the environmental consequences become everyone else’s problem. Profits are private. The damage is public.

People are saying the satellites will just deorbit themselves. True: if fully-functional, the satellites force faster deorbit over the course of 6 months, but the natural deorbit takes years. There's >9,600 of them. SpaceX has allocated $0 towards deorbiting broken satellites.
