the absolute goat of a game soundtrack.
old george knew what he did when he made some comfy nest for some nerds, named it lucasfilm games and let them free to do their things.

A Piratey Show - [1:04:52] is played only a few seconds, like others. i literally had savegames for those tracks. bwutiful.

and a few limitations beyond that.. but with savegames fully compatible to the full version once I release it - so you can keep playing what you started during the Demo.

OK. There is NO place ANYWHERE where I can say “delete these files" ... so I don't even know how to clean up files ... unless I stop syncing this game, which is stupid. I just want to eg "delete older savegames". So ... seems I need to OPEN that game and in there DELETE the savegame ... well […]

I lost savegames due to broken hard-drives, I started new ones and saved Neverwinter multiple times. Went to the Underdark for more adventures and admired as well as I feared the Valsharess. It shaped me as a gamer and a person, it was my comfort zone for a time when my life was difficult.

I think for savegames IDB with Dexie should work well. It’s very good with simple lookups, gets complicated if you need to search.

For savegames I wouldn’t worry about it too much, users will expect their stuff to be give if they reset their profile or migrate to a new machine.

Good question. A save fix is coming with the next update, so from the November release onward savegames should stay compatible across versions. No more starting a new game every time.

thanks to everyone reporting bugs on the closed beta, in particular user Mikax who is doing an amazing job (very detailed reports with savegames, screenshots and even videos!) 😍

"Your 1.6 savegames will load on 1.7, and 1.7 saves also work if you go back to 1.6."

Will the savegames from the Demo be compatible?
October 11, 2026 at 12:56 AM
Btw this should be compatbile with your existing savegames, but NPCs might wear their old clothes, which just means more women in pants.

OpenTTD Development • Re: PX Patches -- train decouple, modular airport ...
You are correct that code doesn't deteriorate on its own, but there are serious risks to project which becomes "unmaintainable" for whatever reason. A lot of old games don't run on today's operating systems without finagling compatibility layers or third-party patches (Railroad Tycoon 3, my beloved). Any decision we make about GRF spec or features are locked in forever, as we almost never break savegames or remove major features. And if you let an LLM create a complex piece of software where you don't understand the code, bugfixing and adding new features can be a game of whack-a-mole trying to make the bug go away. (I won't name the title, but I saw this happen recently, and the game lost much of its community over the creator's public complaints about customer feedback.) > You can't, by definition, keep an open source project to yourself, or to a small group of developers. I know that's what happens. 3,4, maybe 5 people contribute over several years and you all get locked into "this is my game/project/code/whatever", but that isn't really the case. It's and open source project and anybody can contribute (if you let them) You are absolutely right that excluding any new contributors is a sure way to kill a project. But code still needs to be reviewed, and LLM-generated code is currently not feasible to review. It's hard enough reviewing code written by human strangers who can explain what they've done and why. LLMs generate confident and convincing-looking nonsense that often happens to be correct. Trying to review code and also suss out any hallucinations is a task I find impossible. (For context, I wrote most of OpenTTD's AI contribution policy, and review a lot of PRs from new contributors.) OpenTTD has survived 22 years of active development based on the skill, knowledge, and passion of its human contributors and maintainers. Outsourcing that skill and knowledge to a machine which pretends to be intelligent is not a viable path forward. Statistics: Posted by 2TallTyler — 05 Oct 2026 23:39 * * *

Yeah I'm at the point where I absoluely will not buy a Square game on Switch, even though it's my favorite platform at this point, because they're being such HUGE dicks about the Switch 2 upgrades

"50% off"? Cool but 0% of the savegames transfer so that's still a no-fuckin-go my dudes
Imagine praising some of the low effort ports/upgrades that just do the bare minimum while charging you full price when CDPR does this for free: www.rpgsite.net/feature/2147...

I had to go back a few savegames because I didn't collect enough approval. I had to actively leave him in camp when I did nice things. I constantly wonder if I have played the same game as those people.

People should go out the offices of companies like these to protest:
@microsoft.com
#Level5
@sega.jp
#Sony

If it's already the case, share pictures of your manifestations.

I will probably never be whilling to go to them irl, but it doesn't mean that you shouldn't if you want.

Revisiting some Doom mods I previously shelved because I wasn't sure I gelled with the gameplay yet, and realizing one of the savegames is named "MARDE 3" (lit: SHITE 3 in qc-fr) which tells me nothing lol.

Thanks past me.

Wenigstens ein paar Minuten heute mal weiter Blood of the Dawnwalker spielen. Nochmal ein zwei Savegames zurück gegangen und den Prolog erneut beendet.

[Ridiculous save game names]

On the topic of naming savegames useless things, my Selaco saves don't fare much better.

What's amazing though is that I can absolutely tell about when in the campaign each of these was made, so maybe sometimes it works for me
