I am regularly reviewing academic applications for scholarships in Germany. Increasingly, scholars apply from the US. They now emphasize that they are no longer free to research their topic at their home institution. We need to start thinking about #scholarsatrisk programmes for the USA. #academia

I regularly carry out risk assessments - either in the context of asylum or in the context of scholars at risk who have to flee their country of origin. Given the fact that in most European countries (incl the UK) we have conservative parties in power..
