Feed people.
House people.
Educate people.
Heal people.
Love people.

This isn’t fucking rocket science.

Oh, this is glorious! Upping to the science feed. 🧪
The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

Reposting for my new friends in the Science 🧪 feed!
The Human Brain’s Energy Map Is Here, and It Has a Few Surprises! Mitochondrial content across every brain region, revealing why imagination, memory, and self-control may be some of the brain’s most vulnerable functions (highest density in these regions!)

Yesterday was the international day of women in science, and my feed was full of marine science colleagues and institutions posting about how they support women in science. Great! Keep that up. 🧪🌎🦑

One more for the Science 🧪 feed!
Getting therapeutic peptides into the brain is a huge challenge. What if bacteria in your nasal epithelium could synthesize these drugs and deliver them directly and continuously to your brain, bypassing the BBB?

Beautiful proof of concept in a new study:

Figure this should go onto the #science feed 🧪
SCOOP: Top researchers at Columbia, Stanford, and others thought they were elected to elite scientific societies alongside Nobel laureates. The catch? The organizations are a sham.

I spent the last month diving deep into a massive academic scam spanning continents, for @nature.com
Exclusive: Sham scientific societies are misleading star researchers
A Nature investigation reveals a network of organizations that have been building their ranks through deceptive practices.

Just a reminder that we can fund science, and save the earth, and feed everyone, and have health care and housing too.

All those things are within our reach, together.

This is so dang cool.

Putting it into the science feed. 🧪
A favorite commission this year, a dividing cell with an extra detail. Colleagues of a retiring researcher commissioned me to add the specific structure she worked on—the spindle pole body—to the sculpture. Here it is close up, in sterling silver embedded in the bronze nuclear membrane. 🔬#SciArt

If you are looking for feeds to follow I HIGHLY recommend the Science feed. Everyone who posts to it is vetted to ensure they are actual scientists and science communicators to prevent misinformation and pseudoscience from being posted. It's a great place to learn and interact with science!
