Some of the best fight scenes ever produced in comics came from Paul Gulacy's run of Master of Kung Fu. Kinetic, tense, sweat dripping, veins bulging, muscles taut, neck-breaking brilliance.

Started a novella: 2 girls obsessed w/ kung fu in the shaggy 80’s. Moody red / green palette, Midwest house, puberty peril, poltergeist effects. Reading thru, I HATED it. Just now realized my revulsion is to the prose. It’s not a novella, it’s a script! 🤯 Preteen Tarantino, but make it feminist.

LMAO. I knew a young guy in Kung Fu class who got a tattoo in Chinese script saying "Kung Fu Fighter".
He got one tattoo studio to draft it, then took it to another place and asked them to translate it back to English to check he wasn't about to do something permanently embarrassing

This is a little embarrassing to admit, but back when I was writing KUNG FU PANDA only the first movie was out - so I watched it multiple times to get the characters’ voices down.
But one thing always bugged me — I had NO IDEA what kind of animal Shifu was.
So I wrote it into my first script.
