Columbine After the Bloom is Over i.e. seed head 😊. Still maintaining that slightly alien appearance. Once fully dry the casing will split freeing all the seeds trapped inside and screaming for release - flower fantasia!

Virus.

This spiky seed pod had fallen from one of the trees in Central Square, Birmingham. I was having fun with a 16mm lens, using the distorted viewpoint that it brings.

Beautiful Fagus fren’s seedcase, in b&w, hanging off the end of a vertical twig, its spiky surface sharply outlined by the light hitting it from the left, against the creamiest of backgrounds in soft washed out greys.

The massed flowers of Hemp Agrimony so attractive to insects and what is left when the Columbine flowers have had their day and the seeds of next years flowers have been scattered, no less attractive for being the end of something.

"Imagine starting your life's work at seventy-two. At just that age, Mary Granville Pendarves Delany (1700-1788) a fan of George Frederic Handel, a sometime dinner partner of satirist Jonathan Swift, invented a precursor of what we know as collage," offers Molly Peacock. For your reflection...

Another for #miniaturemonday. One of the lesser known #StarWars aliens. These are the Revwien, a sentient, plant-like species. Sculpts designed by BigMrTong, printed by MiniaturesBeGone via Etsy.

The Revwiens were a sentient, plant-like species. Their bodies were cylindrical and mounted atop several strong, prehensile leaves, which were used both for locomotion and manipulation of objects. A cluster of tiny budstalks connected a round, clear seedcase to the top of the body. Revwiens came in a variety of colors, including blue, green, orange, purple, red, and yellow. Their striated leaves ranged from dark green to purplish-black. The Revwiens were a sentient, plant-like species. If your seeds pop out of the ground like this, seedcase still attached? It means you kind of planted it upside down.

Yeah there's a right and wrong way? But these cauliflower were round, unlike the pepper (which I also planted wrong because I forgot).

It's not the end of the world. I think.

Roasted some butternut squash last night, and when I cut it open, the squash had tried to create two seed cases. I am almost 70, and had never seen anything like it before.
Image of two halves of a butternut squash, with a normal sized seed case at the wide end, and an attempted smaller seedcase at the narrow end.
