I agree, he’s appalling. I understand the need for self-belief in top level sport, but he is so far beyond that it’s not funny.

The [negative] self talk is now part of the pattern. It's a protective layer on top of the pattern to make exploration harder. The pattern is one you've learnt or been taught in order to keep you safe and happy in life.
