#semi-colonial
Yeah, my "pet" cat is actually a haunted rogue AI from a colonial ships emergency response mainframe given a semi-ethereal form.

...Why? Is that weird?

Aztec/Mayan Futurism + Spanish Colonial slum. All while being semi-abstract. It's a hard edge to walk. Some concepts are more successful than others. This is one of the first environment concepts I did.

For example: did you know there was a semi-successful anarchist community of Koreans in Manchuria? Or that many anti-colonial fighters within the Korean community at the time considered themselves anarchists?

Agreed. The idea is to create a semi-colonial peripheral region to be exploited and plundered. An invaded Canada is not going to be allowed to have any sort of meaningful representation.

my politics are anti-colonial and thats why i'm rooting for argentina

What I find most interesting about the Policy Exchange report is the semi-colonial attitude to Ireland- a co-signatory of the agreement backed up by the EU.

Disrupting justice and security cooperation between the UK and Ireland - and the EU more widely - will leave us less rather than more safe.
It's fascinating watching the same cycle of f%¥£ing around and finding out happening. Some anti-ECHR lawyers in Britain might say this, but Irish and EU politicians think differently, and politics will determine their reaction, not law alone.

you do realize that most subsistence farmers are tenant farmers in semi-feudal, semi-colonial nations, right?
Nobody is forced to work. Our society is almost totally compatible with being a subsistence farmer. And we certainly don't force anyone to give up their own resources so that *others* can sit idle and mooch.

Campo Toledo, from my reading of the first route, is a semi-autobiographical, faith-heavy, pro-LDS, pro-colonial VN about a queer NA missionary in South America. It uses cute, well-drawn, furry art and fantastical elements to relay the character's struggles being queer in a regressive ecosystem.

This Warbot has seen much action and served during the great colonial war. Semi retired this battle hardened unit now gathers dusty waiting in sleep mode, once rebooted it will commence it's next mission and be of service again. diehardminiatures.com/product/ex-m...

É uma feroz crítica ao capitalismo estadunidense e à relação semi-colonial do pós-guerra com o Japão. Como diria Renato Russo, "vamos cuspir de volta o lixo em cima de vocês!!!"

She ended up getting fired and now has a career as an Instagram colonial cosplayer/ semi nude model. She was (and is) a brilliant scholar. What a loss to her career- under this sick man. It's entrapment.

Especially rich to hear American “leftists” who haven’t accomplished anything in 80 years tell these imperialist lies about countries that eliminated illiteracy, provided universal housing and healthcare, enfranchised women, destroyed feudal and (semi) colonial social relations, won the space race

*me, looking at the massive imperialist war machine that guarantees the superprofits of monopoly capital and enforces the semi-colonial status of the global south* ah yes, actually-existing socialism

U.S. #imperialism and the #semi-colonial Canadian ruling class under #CompradorCarney will never permit this Canadian owned & developed technology (if that’s indeed what it really is) from going into production. #Monopoly capitalist imperialism doesn’t tolerate competition, it crushes it.

As a Brit who semi-ironically views USAnians as “colonials,” this is an excellent insight into something RuneQuest Glorantha gets right.

One of our default play modes is the anti-colonial dungeon crawl: heroic rebellious Orlanthi natives taking on the oppressive, extractive, colonial Lunar Empire.
Decolonising the Dungeon Crawl---

Like everything else re: decolonisation and TTRPGs discourse, this is a solved problem. There's only metric that matters:

How many creators from the colonised world are participating in and able to make a living from their games?

That's *it*.

Looking at the comments is a combination of:

The semi feudal way Spain ran its colonies.
The fact that Spain lost much of its colonial empire before everyone else and as such modern Spain became a modern state way after its empire ended.
I understand it logically how low-info Scottish or Welsh folks claim innocence from colonialism. I know it's wrong, but I understand how they've erroneously arrived at that conclusions. I cannot phathom how Spanish people do this.
it is too early in the morning to be learning how many Spanish people truly believe Spain never had a colonial empire for some reason

I hear a lot of people in Europe repeating this narrative.

#Bedouins, like other indigenous groups, are not removable people because they used to live a semi-nomadic lifestyle before colonial times.

Same for people called 'Berbers' or other colonial terms.

Bedouins belong to Palestine.
“Bedouins are stuck to our land. We are an Indigenous community … we can’t just be flipped to another place.”

Israel claims Palestinian Bedouins don’t have hometowns and they can just move. But these people don’t want to leave their land aje.io/j3sfr6

This one's for all my 🇵🇷Puertorrican🇵🇷 peeps out there: I made a semi-stylized version of the iconic "adoquines" (iron slag cobblestones) in Designer. They're found all over Old San Juan, the colonial area of the capital, and have become a symbol for it.

btw the nicknames of both cities on social media reflect the different vibes really well: Beijing as 帝都 the imperial capital, Shanghai as 魔都, a nickname that was first coined by Japanese writer Shōfu Muramatsu in the 1920s, when he visited the semi-colonial treaty port city
underrated YouTube comment. likely made by someone from Chongqing.

I remember reading colonial-era (1890s–1910s) anthropology papers a couple of years ago while doing research about pre-colonial Madagascar.

I was certainly not prepared for just how gleefully often the authors would refer to non-European civilizations as “the semi-civilized”.

As we wait for the England-Argentina semi-finals, many of us know about England’s colonial past and the good/bad they did.

But what about Argentina? Why no black players?

Aside from welcoming Nazis, here’s another dark chapter in their history
