“I shall read a passage of Shakspeare every Sunday at ten o Clock—you read one at the same time and we shall be as near each other as blind bodies can be in the same room.”

Inktober day 28 - Skeletal

Yes, it is inspired by Hamlet and yes, the reference is from the Hamlet starring David Tennant. I simply liked the image. Not very original 😅.

Okay, the students are either trolling me, or are doing some kind of meta-commentary about the futility of requiring standardized spelling of the name of a man who lived before standardized spelling existed. *sigh*

Well, William Shaksper/Shakspeare/Shakespere/Shakesbeard would be proud of them.

Chess is too mechanically-dense and strategic to win a Ye Olde Game Awarde, they'd likely give it to a Shakspeare Novelette.

Not including abbreviated forms, three in his signatures - Shakspeare, Shakspere, and Shaksper. The memorial plaque on his tomb also uses Shakspeare (his widow's tombstone uses Shakespeare). Pre-First Folio plays use a mix of Shake-speare, Shakespeare, Shak-speare, Shakespere, and Shakspeare.

The typographical eye. Melville, in a 1949 letter to Evert Duyckinck, is finally “reading Shakspeare”:

“It is an edition in glorious great type, every letter whereof is a soldier, & the top of every ‘t‘ like a musket barrel.”

A Yorkshire Tragedy (1608) was once thought to be by William Shakespeare. It even appeared in the Third Folio of his works. But most scholars today credit it to Thomas Middleton. The title page stated “W. Shakspeare” and it was claimed that it was performed by The

I don’t buy books to resell, that way less madness. But I was pleased to see the somewhat worn 1890 edition of “The Works of William Shakspeare” I just picked up for 5 bucks has in the past sold for hundreds and was one of Samuel Beckett’s preferred editions.

In opposition to most people who love to read Shakspeare I like to see his plays acted better than any others: his great tragedies thrill me, let them be acted how they may.

Well, that's probably true. I, for one, will celebrate. I will. Here is to speaking it into the universe. As Shakspeare might say... Let his actions hasten him to his end ... May Karma take her sweet revenge.

You should however not read Shakspeare and I will die on that hill. You should WATCH Shakespeare. It's like trying to understand a film by reading the script. It's missing the fucking point. (Even if I understand why a lot of teachers don't have the resources to do this properly).
