My grandfather was a sharecropper yanked out of school in the 3rd grade to pick cotton.
His working class roots may be a bit, uh... exaggerated as well.

"He is the elder of two sons born to restaurant owner Leslie Harlow and lawyer Bronson Platner. His grandfather was the modernist architect Warren Platner."

Also, sharecropping has been seen as low tier work but our people labored with skill and expertise. I feel the film shone a light on the people who did that work.

A military vet who drove school buses when he retired.

A sharecropper who ran numbers when sharecropping retired itself.
