yeah, i have only been able to cancel-out the deathgrip that sheargrub/wigs on accident a handful of times, just had to get creative. the wollywogs was ALWAYS a gamble. 😔

I decided to replay Pikmin and I almost started crying at both the map screen music and the Forest of Hope. The only thing that made me cry more was a Sheargrub eating a Pikmin with a bomb and blowing up my entire squad.

Thought it was impossible on Fierce but I found a strat that works (info in Alt).

> send 6 Rocks + Oatchi to fight the Porquillion > Send 2 rocks to fight each Mama Sheargrub (4 total). Pluck the extra 5 Rocks. You should have 10 Rocks with you. 6 Rocks and Oatchi are fighting the Porquillion, and there are 2 Rocks fighting each Sheargrub. > Break the crystal wall next to spawn and turn 5 Rocks into Purples. Go across the Snagret and turn your other 5 Rocks into Purples so you have 10 Purples total > Take out the Snagret. As soon as it begins to emerge, throw your Purples as quickly as possible onto its head. If you deal enough damage, it'll retreat underground and you can repeat the process > Next the Bulblax. Quickly chuck all 10 Purples onto the side of its face, whistling them back if it shakes them off or screams. Repeat. > Head for the Goolix. Charge your Purples at the tail, and when its core is exposed, throw your Purples onto it as quickly as possible, whistle them, and repeat. Once the Goolix recovers, quickly whistle your Pikmin and move aside. If the Goolix captures you or your Pikmin, it'll take even longer for it to expose its tail again. > If done right, the Rocks will have killed the other enemies by the time you take out the Goolix

Female Sheargrub’s only purpose now is to serve as an early enemy that exclusively appears in Sun-Speckled Terrace. Guess they serve their purpose? Still think more could have been done with them. Eh.

Buriko is an unused enemy in Pikmin 3. Its name is the same as the Swarming Sheargrub but has the pallet of a Male Sheargrub, it’s possible that it is an early version or a scrapped redesign of either creature respectively.

When it approaches a Bulborb it ignores gravity and starts floating.

Shearwigs received a minor design change starting in Pikmin 3. Originally they had exoskeleton covering their whole back, leaving only their stomach exposed. But their modern design only has their face covered, with their entire torso(?) exposed.

It makes them more resemble their Sheargrub cousins.
