Shubunkin Goldfish are beautiful, active pets and less destructive than Koi. Better for smaller ponds.

Good evening from the back yard. #pond

in the old days they used to be koi about such things but nowadays they're obsessed with shibunkin Marxist critical theory

Another photogenic evening in the back yard. #pond

Nowadays The Pond is healthy and supports insect/arachnid life as well as continually supporting the fish (2 goldfish and a shibunkin, which have survived from the beginning)

I had a fish tank as a kid. I got pasionate about the different kinds of goldfish Shibunkin Veil Tails, Ranchu Maruko Lionheads, Black Mollies ... and they displayed different personalities and were excited to see me. Even at 8 years old, I knew they were my fellow, sentient Earthlings.

We have this oddball common goldfish that looks orange with a layer of white/opaque on top, giving him a golden color. There's no koi in this pond at all, but we do have a prolific mostly orange shibunkin that may have mothered this little guy. Who knows. We've named him Ozzy, he's lovely
