Tonight saw a house with a shitty decorative golf course in a small sideyard with sheets of astroturf under a Trump flag, like this is the promise. A little house in an ever shrinking census-designated place by the river where you can pretend it is you who owns a golf course.

will never forget @holz-bau.bsky.social pointing out how sideyard setbacks create dark window canyons with neighbor windows pointing directly at eachother a few feet away. Kind of an "aha' moment that sharing neighbor walls (w/ sound proofing) means *more* privacy and light.

Ravi had flown off the fence and must have landed 50+ feet down the hill.
I went to sideyard to refill jugs with sugar. Connie comes by, “Bad timing, Ravi brought a guest!
Guest did not stay for me to see 😫
Ravi came up for more snacks.
Only had 2 runners at same time twice in 8 yrs🪶

Bacon and Matthew also recommended the zoning bylaw allow narrow sideyard setbacks, ditch the angular plane, and permit rowhouses city wide. Ottawa’s planners dismissed these ideas, as they “would not be acceptable in suburban Ottawa.”

The D/FW area warehouse bought by ICE at I-20 & I-45 also has train tracks immediately adjacent to it, and space to build a small rail sideyard, enough to hold a half dozen cars.
Totally forgot to add this but someone mentioned how eerie it is that a train track is running near the area and it actually runs directly behind the proposed concentration camp. This video is from the parking lot:

It apparently roosts in a large tree in someone’s sideyard just down the street. I took this quick video of it while on my run this morning! I’m going to go introduce myself to the residents later and ask if I can come by sometimes to photograph “their” bird lol 😁
