Posted yesterday about a Jim idea and... two questions:
- White (a) or black (b) silhouette colour?
- Text fully filled out (1), or text sorta handlettered into the background (2)?

(on white, the colours will be teal and orange like in the image, on black I'll use silver and/or gold)

#ofmd
A photo of a cut out silhouette. The colour of the silhouette is white. This is silhouettte option A. A photo of a cut out silhouette. The colour of the silhouette is black. This is silhouettte option B. A photo of a cut out silhouette. The lettering on the inside fully fills the silhouette and switches colours between teal and orange. This is lettering option 1. A photo of a cut out silhouette. The lettering on the inside is done artfully and doesn't fully fill the silhouette. It is written in various directions and types of handwriting, and also features various colours and sizes. This is lettering option 2.

Fallible Justice by Laura Laakso

A chronically ill (EDS) PI with a deep connection to nature, investigate a murder with her close friend and new apprentice, a Bird shaman. The magic skills flowed well into the investigation, while also building out an interesting world. 1/2

Fallible Justice by Laura Laakso The a woman stand with her back to the camera. She's in silhouettte, with the details of her hair and trenchcoat outlined in white. She looks towards a London skyline and a red and orange sky filled with enlarged fingerprint swirls. Behind her is a frame of stylized leaves. The frame and the sky are splattered with blood. The tagline reads: Could a guilty man actually be innocent. The mood is ominous, as if something is about to be burned down.

#WIPSnips word for July 9 is "smile"
#WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

Nin's first day on the road for her journey, and she comes across a stranger walking along the road with a slight limp. So, due to her kind and generous nature, she finally decides to stop and offer him a ride.
Silhouettte of oakgree against green background. Text: A Sylvan Tale #WIPSnips "smile" Turning around while seated on her horse, Nin finally gazed at the stranger. He was handsome. Far more handsome than Alan, and he was the most handsome man in Oakdore. The stranger had a neat beard that wasn’t too long and a smile that dazzled her with straight white teeth. But it was his eyes that made her heart pound as if someone was chopping wood in her chest with the sharp and thunderous impact of each beat. She could not tell if they were green or brown, for it seemed they changed colors between the two depending on if light or shadow was cast upon his face. She felt hypnotized by their stunning vibrancy as he unapologetically stared back at her.

#WIPSnips word for April 7th is "shortcut"
#WriteSky #WritingPrompts #WritingCommunity

Nin has realized that she traveled three-quarters all the way around the sacred forest when she could have just traveled to Tairseach Mulhcráeb in one third the distance and time, based on what she knows now.
Silhouettte of an oak tree against a greeen background. Text: A Sylvan Tale #WIPSnips "shortcut" As Darach made them a mid-day meal since they skipped breakfast, Nin thought aloud. “I don’t know why the magician said I had to go to each tavern owner for a clue when they imparted nothing new that I didn’t already read in that book. I knew I had to find the gateway and the gold was at the summit. The only bit of new information of was where to find Tairseach Mulhcráeb. At this point, I could have taken a shortcut, traveling directly from Oakdore to here in a fraction of the time and without wolves or bandits.” “Would you have traded all the time we spent together for a faster route there?” he asked, his voice solemn. She heard the question in his voice whether he was worth the bother. Without having the time to get to know Darach, would she have fallen in love with him just the same? Without the hardships they faced together, as unpleasant as they were? “No,” she replied, smiling at him with fondness. “I would not trade a moment away, even with the brief bits of sorrow. Even now again, some rain must fall,” she philosophized.

Roots of Corruption by Laura Laakso

This isn't as twisty as the previous two, and the focus is more introspective, contemplating loyalty, ethics, and setting up a plotline for future books. The corgi was a surprise.

#WIPSnips word for March 8th is "beam"
#WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

Nin has just picked up Darach by the side of the road. During introductions, he calls her "bláthín" which means "little flower. Given how tall, strong and amply padded Nin is, she scoffs at the nickname.
Silhouettte of an oak tree against a green background. Text: A Sylvan Tale #WIPSnips "beam" Darach laugh was deep. From his tone alone, she could easily imagine the flirtatious twinkle in his eye. “To me you are a wee thing, and more delicate than I. I certainly hope not to crush you.” Nin imagining his arms, which looked as long as any broad beam of a house, enveloping her fully instead of only partially making it around her back, encircling her in warmth and strength flooded her mind. Oh, to be crushed against his chest in those arms! Just the thought of that alone made her head swim with increased lightheadedness enough so her body rested up against Darach, only to feel the muscles of his chest flex and his hands moved from the side of her waist and a bit more forward.

Depending on how you count ‘release’, either of these! I made them using pre-2020 stock, though the background for ATG is a photo I took years ago in Scotland.

GoH released earlier this month. ATG today but has been on preorders for a few months.
A stylish green, shiny frame with a sparkly background. The text “The Glamour of Hope” is written along the sparkles diagonally. The top corner reads “The Archmage’s Apprentice 1”. The bottom corner reads “S.L. Dove Cooper”. A bright, 80s vibe cover. A golden flamingo silhouettte in front of bright neon pink cliffs and a grey-blue sky. Above the flamingo the text “All that Glitters” is written in blue and gold. Midway down the subtitle “a comedic spy adventure”. At the bottom the name “S.L. Dove Cooper” in a font with a cartoon comedy vibe.

Echo Murder by Laura Laakso

Hmm. A good mystery in this one, and I enjoy the investigative teamwork between Yannia and Karrion. But there's an underlying uneasyness with her past and those in it, and I wonder how many books it will take to come to a head.

Excited for you! Is the minifig with the camera Frank Hurley, Endurance’s Australian photographer? I love pointing out he took one of the *most* referenced photos of WWI, “1st Australian Division Near Ypres, 1917”. Try finding a WWI book, poster or dvd cover that ISN’T a remix! Such as: LOTR edition
Sepia-toned retouched version of photograph, description from the Australian War Memorial website: “Supporting troops of the 1st Australian Division walking on a duckboard track near Hooge, in the Ypres Sector. They form a silhouettte against the sky as they pass towards the front line to relieve their comrades, whose attack the day before won Broodseinde Ridge and deepened the Australian advance.” Taken Frank Hurley on October 5th, 1917. Cover for the Harper Collins editions The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien (Paperback, 2001). A silhouette of the Fellowship members (including Bill the pony) in the Peter Jackson movie as they trek across the mountains. Their shadows resemble the reflections cast in the flooded pools on the scarred battlefield of Belgium like in Frank Hurley’s WWI photographs.

It is clearly absolutely beautiful, but this is also a really well-composed photograph. The layers of silhouettte and vivid colour, the blending of sea and sky. A work of art.
