I’ve just launched a new YouTube series showcasing my solos from each album. Unlike many guitarists who favor melodic solos, my focus has always been on creating a unique identity and sound in my lead work for maximum intensity. My influences are fairly diverse and unconventional. Piggy of Voivod highly inspires the discordant and frantic vibe, playing the right wrong notes. Kirk Hammett of Metallica shapes my solo structures, telling a story with his early lead work. Chuck Schuldiner of Death influences how I start and end solos, an aspect I consider crucial to great soloing. And one of the most important is Trey Azagthoth of Morbid Angel inspired me greatly with his intensity, chaotic style and whammy bar wackiness. These influences combined have shaped my approach, inspiring me to tell the story I want on top of my rhythm guitar.
