I try and use cash/debit cards with small biz but just received my first bank charge in like 20+ years (after switching from Simplii to Vancity) for having more than 25 transactions. Didn't realize that's the account they set me up with. Annoyed.

re-opened a Simplii Financial account so I can close my Vancity account. I can't wait to not have to maintain a minimum balance of my money just sitting there and I can't touch it or else I have to pay a monthly fee...to use MY money!?

Just a heads up that a couple hundred Ontarians said that their Ontario rebate cheque bounced. The gov't said it's an issue with RBC but it also happened to someone with a Simplii bank account.
Great idea, but I saw on CBC that people have reported the check bounced or their bank had trouble processing it.

Very highly suggest moving from one of the big five banks to simplii or tangerine if ur in so called Canada to avoid chequing account fees and also accrue interest

if you're looking to consolidate it to one place, i (as well as some friends w less than perfect credit) had luck getting lines of credit through simplii. ymmv tho

My primary account is Simplii with CIBC, and I have that because 20 years ago when PC Financial FIRST started, it was under CIBC, then the closed it and CIBC rebranded it. Then PC Financial opened again. Anyway, we have a no frills in town so I like my PC Optimum points on my credit card lol.
