Right. Simulated photosynthesis doesn’t have the causal profile of the real thing, and only ‘produces’ simulated ‘sugar’ *in the simulation*. What addles people’s minds is the idea that simulated thought or consciousness just IS thought or consciousness because the causal profile remains mysterious.
