There was a lot of Janus Cometocs Easter eggs early in the season. Janus is connected to Sionis.

Saw someone theorize it was Sionis and I like that solely because he would be the guy to do it lol

Battle for the Cowl Saga pt. 25/54
Arkham Asylum was… well it WAS interesting, but it also didn’t need to happen. We’ve had set up that Roman Sionis is dead so someone else is Black Mask, I can only assume he’s one of the four people here, possibly Alessio.

I think it's meant to be a reference to Richard Sionis, aka Black Mask?

I wonder who he could voice in the Absolute Batman anime
He has a good voice, he'd be good as the voice of Black Mask

Okay....what now?
First Ruby is Kate Kane, as Batwoman, then she leaves the show, they recast Batwoman (not Kate Kane), and then "Kate" returns as Circe Sionis, who then fully remembers she is Kate.
But, if you look at the cast for Batwoman: Ruby is "Kathy Kane", and Wallis Day is "Kate Kane".

So, Batman made a deal with Black Mask to stop mucking about in Sionis' project.
This may be more coming from the 70s Bat books I'm reading, but its refreshing to read of a more morally grey/chaotic Batman.

#Lanterns

And i think there's something here too to how Sionis lumps Batman into this grouping of "degenerates". How the powerful employ violence against the masses to coerce them, and when some in the masses resist, that's seen as a growing of the chaos and now the powerful have to assert control

I mentioned this trope already, the "powerful bad guys use proxies for creating fear" thing, but I wanna remark a bit more on this and its use here
Now, Black Mask is playing both sides here. He's leading the party Animals and meeting with Harvey Bullock to get him to support Hill for Mayor...

This is so far a sometimes repeating trope in comics, and its at least used in Absolute Superman as well, that the powerful use proxy groups that appear at odds with that power's mission but actually work hand in hand with them.
So right now we have this conspiracy forming...

Also there’s just tons of great gags here and my favorite is Harley tied to a chair, with a list of reasons why Sionis might want her dead that includes “having a vagina” and “voted for Bernie.“
My second favorite is everyone calling Huntress ”The Crossbow Killer.“

Watching Birds of Prey. Roman Sionis is like if James Dolan was a gangster.
Also, this is another piece of media I’m so glad I didn’t see pre-trans because it would’ve defined my personality in ways only I found amusing.

El sionismo es la ideología más exitosa de nuestros tiempos. Lejos de acercarse a su final, cada vez es más extremista

I would have been 100% on board if the exact same character had been named, say, Roman Sionis. he was a lot closer to Black Mask anyway. just seems like a missed opportunity.

If you're wondering where I've been, I have been having the time of my life 100% Batman: Arkham City. Already very close to the end, so far my journey has led me to Robin's Riddler's Revenge campaigns & they're some of the most fun I've had with this game mode.
Sweeped all the combat challenges.
