FALL WONDER: A spruce grouse hen peers from a spruce limb near Southcentral Alaska's Skilak Lake. Spruce grouse males feature black chin patches, defined scarlet eye combs, and black-barred chests. Females are a more even mottled brown, as seen here.

Fantastic day doing fall chores with mom, then we capped it off with a great short hike in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge at Engineer Lake, and a quick stop at Skilak Lake for Cooper the dog to sniff dead salmon 😀 Fun day in Alaska!

Nope. Expensive and vomit inducing travel makes it very prohibative for me.

We have bears around Skilak Lake and so I take pics there... little harder to catch them but...

I'd love to go to Valdez and get bears and sea lions during the salmon runs.

Reconnected with long-time Kenai Peninsula friends for a packraft trip through the Kenai Canyon in Alaska on this good Friday. Switching my mindset now, hoping to see a few thousand anti-Trumpers on the streets in Anchorage on Saturday.
