Unfortunately, that eugenic belief of belonging to a higher form of human being has always been a part of nerd culture. "Fans are slans", anyone?
Being "nerd-coded" now is not about being... detail-oriented, interested in non-standard things, enmeshed in a community of enthusiasts. It is now an explicitly eugenic belief that you belong to a higher form of human being and are beyond traditional morality
