A friend is making a 3d printed mold for making a plaster slipcasting mold for making a clay rocket.

I’d just gotten to the point of reliably getting ~something~ even if it wasn’t what I meant to do, throwing reasonably clean cylinders, and starting to make closed forms.
However timing studio visits for trimming isn’t feasible so I’m just not doing that. Slipcasting has much easier logistics.

Slipcasting is entertaining to learn, and a good way to continue learning How to Clay when I can’t get to the studio regularly, but not something I’d want to do for fun.

think yixing collecting produces bias against other forms of art. any unglazed clay pot is a yixing fake, slipcasting and wheel throwing are necessarily worse, less valuable, less pure, etc forms of producing pots, because "fully handmade" is the best. everything gets judged in a yixing lens

its worth noting that yixing f1 held exclusive access to yixing clay for a long period of time, and aimed to produce as many teapots as possible. if slipcasting actual yixing wasnt figured out then, I don't think it's possible
