Instead of listing my publications, as the year draws to an end, I want to shine the spotlight on the commonplace assumption that productivity must always increase. Good research is disruptive and thinking time is central to high quality scholarship and necessary for disruptive research.

in 2024 i submitted to ICML(4), RLC(2), & NeurIPS(1) and had 100% acceptance rate.

but equally important is being selective and only send papers that you would be surprised if they *didn't* get accepted.

This should be compulsory reading for PhD students and supervisors. From my own experience, regular one-to-one meetings help advance research and provide reassurance.

The work we’re developing in my group is the most stimulating and (I think) exciting and (I hope) important stuff I’ve ever worked on. It’s taking forever. We are hoping for some initial pubs this year. But it’s a long game when you want to be really creative. I’m staking my career on #slowscience
