It's fine to break with your party over a matter of principle or conscience. But if that brings consequences, have the moral courage to accept them. Don't whine or snivel that it's unfair for the people you turned your back on to get angry with you.

Same! Went to Alaska in January. Brought my snivel gear, because it was supposed to be -30. Ended up mostly wearing jeans and a t-shirt. I just wasn't outside much so nothing more needed. Standing on the porch with no sun and -30 was bracing.
