L’image de couverture est basée sur le pentagramme inversé contenu dans le livre “La Clef de la Magie Noire” de l’occultiste francais Stanislas de Guaita (1861–1897). Les signes astrologiques qui ouvrent chaque leçon sont empruntés (à l’exception près du Bélier, Capricorne et Poissons) à une collection d’images numériques réalisées par une équipe du Hubble Space Telescope Institute, à partir de l’ouvrage “Firmamentum Sobiescianum sive Uranographia” de l’astronome polonais Johannes Hevelius (1611–1687). Les autres signes proviennent du “Liber Astronomiae” de l’astrologue italien Guido Bonatti (XIII siècle). Les deux petits diables qui entourent le logo des Presses Insoumises sont dus au célèbre dessinateur pour enfants A.Grothendieck, et sont conservés à l’Université de Bielefeld, en Allemagne. Ces images sont dans le domaine public. La malédiction qui clôture le volume reproduit celle d’un ancien parchemin de l’Abbaye de Sainte Marie et Saint Nicolas à Arnstein (Allemagne), actuellement dans la collection de la British Library de Londres (MS. Harley 2798); son auteur – un obscur moine copiste dont l’histoire n’a gardé que le nom : Lunandus – y promet fièvres pestilentielles, supplice par la roue, meurtre par pendaison, et j’en passe et des meilleurs, à l’intention de toute crapule déplorable qui oserait soustraire ou endommager le fruit de ses labeurs. The cover image is based on the inverted pentagram contained in the book “The Key to Black Magic” by French occultist Stanislas de Guaita (1861–1897). The astrological signs that open each lesson are borrowed (with the exception of Aries, Capricorn, and Pisces) from a collection of digital images created by a team at the Hubble Space Telescope Institute, based on the work “Firmamentum Sobiescianum sive Uranographia” by Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius (1611–1687). The other signs come from the “Liber Astronomiae” by Italian astrologer Guido Bonatti (13th century). The two little devils surrounding the Presses Insoumises logo are by the famous children’s cartoonist A. Grothendieck and are housed at the University of Bielefeld, Germany. These images are in the public domain. The curse that closes the volume reproduces that of an ancient parchment from the Abbey of St. Mary and St. Nicholas in Arnstein, Germany, currently in the collection of the British Library in London (MS. Harley 2798); its author—an obscure copyist monk whose history has retained only his name: Lunandus—promises pestilential fevers, torture on the wheel, murder by hanging, and so on, for any deplorable scoundrel who would dare to steal or damage the fruits of his labors.
