Pictured is one of the four skeleton miniatures from the HeroQuest board game, front view. All but fur lining for the leather leg wraps and gauntlets, and bases are unpainted. The armor was painted with nonmetallic metal, using entirely greys from SoFlat Titanium white and SoFlat black. A thin glaze of SoFlat phthalo blue (green shade) was applied over the armor and then occasional dots of SoFlat pale yellow. The leathers were painted with a layering of Golden SoFlat paints, burnt umber, burnt sienna, mars yellow deep, Naples yellow deep, and then a dot of titan buff here and there. My favourite paints are SoFlat acrylics by Golden Paints
They are sooo good, so vibrant, so flat 🐸

I have used them exclusively for my paintings for a while now

They are a lil pricey, but sometimes you can find the 6 pack sets on sale online

(they did not pay me to say this!)

A miniature muscle car from the Car Wars game crudely painted with a metallic dark blue. The car sports lots of exhaust pipes, two pairs of black painted laser guns, a pair of black painted heavy machine guns, and what looks like either four launching ports or exhaust ports in the back. The engine sticks up above the hood and appears to be a v8. Front view from above. This third session: refined the flames and guns (added SoFlat Pale Yellow and Kimera Orange, glazed guns with Golden SoFlat Phthalo Blue Green Shade), painted exhausts and hubcaps with Molotow silver (One4All refill), painted engine with Vallejo gunmetal mixed with Daler Rowney Black Ink. Grill was Molotow silver mixed with the Phthalo Blue or Golden High Flow Acrylic Prussian Blue. Just the windshield and perhaps some weathering left! Second session: painted the tires and guns with a mix of Golden So Flat black and white. Blocked in the colors for flames on the hood and roof, no blending done yet but obviously still needed. Used Golden SoFlat pyrrole red, cadmium orange, and permanent yellow deep. First session: Though I experimented a bit with Molotow paints, the airbrush, and a gradient like the other car in this post, I eventually painted it entirely with Molotow silver, which is incredible. It’s got tiny mica flakes, is super bright, runs through an airbrush like a dream, and cleans easily from the airbrush. Her skintone came from a happy accident when a blob of ProAcryl Dark Hot Pink flowed into some SoFlat Yellow Green on my wet palette overnight.
Based her skin with the pink and worked in more and more yellow green to the mix as I layered up.

Pictured are four skeleton miniatures from the HeroQuest board game. Only the bones, leathers, and haft of the scythes are painted…otherwise there is only a zenithal highlight. The leathers were painted with a layering of Golden SoFlat paints, burnt umber, burnt sienna, mars yellow deep, Naples yellow deep, and then a dot of titan buff here and there. The first skeleton is painted with a sketch and blend technique, matching darker colors to the shadows and brighter ones to the highlights. The colors used were Golden SoFlat raw umber, Kimera oxide brown light, and SoFlat titan buff. They were mixed to create the blends. The second skeleton was painted with SoFlat titan buff and then a wash of Vallejo sepia wash. Some highlights were painted over that. The third one was based in SoFlat raw umber and then drybrushed with the same colors as the first one. The fourth one was based in SoFlat titan buff and then a diluted Vallejo Xpress Paint wasteland brown.

Nick's art supplies tips corner: if you're into Golden's SoFlat range but hate the jars, the thread on the caps is 38/400, so any nozzle-style lid with that threading will work. Game changer.
