i'm just ever so slightly vindicated in my choice to do the latter given Grimdoomer's softmod will not support Dashlaunch plugins at all*. It turns out doing the right thing first time will pay off in the future

genuinely insane how hacking the xbox 360 went from "never going to happen" to "you can but it takes 2 hours average to get anything" to "it's almost instantaneous now" to "there is a softmod"

Would you believe this guy thinks we’re falling to serfdom because he can’t softmod his Nintendo console and then take it online?
We're hurtling towards a reality where no one "owns" anything and your reaction is to say "grow up". Sure, great, good input.

basically you should still be excited for the softmod since it's basically providing the building blocks for something potentially bigger contributed by other people

BIG Xbox news, Microsoft are still ghouls that you shouldn't give money to, and you can buy / softmod an old Xbox for pretty cheap anyway. It's still one of the cheapest retro consoles to collect games for too, if that's your jam.
🚨BIG Xbox news. Microsoft is launching Xbox backward compatibility for PC today. The initial preview will include 4 original Xbox games on PC, with plans to bring more Xbox console games to PC over time. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/969117/...

people are being really annoying about the upcoming xbox 360 softmod not supporting dashlaunch plugins/stealth servers
more people need to understand that some things are not implemented purely because it's not within the scope of a project rather than out of malicious intent

Wii <3 With the affordability of the majority of its library, and with just how many consoles, Wiimotes, and classic controllers are out there. Really is something for everyone on it.

HDMI adapters are cheap and decent, and it's super easy to softmod. Plus it's a living console online again.

In Mario Kart Wii, several course textures have strings of seemingly arbitrary numbers in their filenames, as shown below.

Interpreting these as dates in Japan's YY-MM-DD format reveals a timeline spanning August 2006 to November 2007, fitting the game's development timeline.
