lord somewhere i still have one of those plugin tv game things and it's like. two conjoined softpads. if i ever find that i have to play it

The Princess Bride duel between the masked man and Inigo but instead of swordplay they bust out DDR with softpads playing AM-3P Heavy but neither of them are any good at it but they try their best and it's really just a contest to see who can last more seconds before failing

pondering the logistics of a modern DDR. I wonder if there's any recent technology which could improve softpads. like, the core functionality, not making them wireless or giving them USB-C connectivity

i should also note that vr is the most space accommodating and economical way to play dance games. ddr hard pads are STILL expensive (and require more room wrt to storage) and softpads are ass and last under 6 months usually.

Good evening everyone, here's today's dragon-paws🐾

Decided to ignore @atomicspoonie.bsky.social's advice on DDR softpads and order one anyway

also for some reason older versions of ddr are called "Dancing Stage" which made finding them significantly harder for me initially

will update you on when it comes and my lack of listening to advice lol

so wait, pump it up rise happened right, are they selling any kind of hardware for it? like even just softpads?

you should get an ltek! they're like €250 including shipping from poland. i had one before i moved and got my arcade pads and they are honestly pretty nice, better responsiveness than softpads (1000hz!) and as long as they're stored flat (not upright), they will last forever.

Sundays are for softness… and savage honesty.

My experience with softpads is pretty good but you really gotta tape it down on the floor or otherwise you'll end up on the other side of the room

in 2009, a niche studio known as From Softpads released the titular Dark Soles. This blew up into a major series beloved by many and seen as heralding a new era of game design. It wasn't very compatible with Mouse+Keyboard, and a gamepawpad is preferred for most players.
