Similar to what CDProject did, these groups used the experience & connections they acquired to became "normal" publishers, like Softstar (大宇資訊) and Soft-World (智冠科技), and make their own games.

The Legend of Sword and Fairy (1995) was an RPG for MS-DOS PCs in Taiwan by Softstar. Mingling Chinese folklore and philosophy, wuxia aesthetics, and divine powers, players take on the role of Li Xiaoyao whose yearning for adventure is soon answered. (an wuxia wonderland thread)

Another fun example is Jingxun Computer Magazine (精訊電腦) in Taiwan, that began in 1986 as basically the Nintendo Power of a local company doing unauthorized imports.
Sounds like minor stuff, but it's tied to the birth of Softstar - a giant company that dominated Chinese-language games in the 90s/00s
