So I decided to isekai myself into Vaesera to walk among my own creation, but I didn't want to look out of place so I... became a Solkai. New fursona unlocked!
(Yes, he's just an alternate. I'm still an otter :p)

New Solkai art, by @artofjonas.bsky.social!
This one features Saturn doing what he does best: being a tour guide for his homeworld, introducing curious visitors to a new culture.

Ha, well the whole idea of creating this species was to blend together a lot of features I find appealing, so naturally they'd come out like one of my 'sonas :p
In fact, I've got a "solkai-sona" coming soon....

Furry conventions are among the best sources of inspiration for me. I finally got back to sketching while chilling in the hotel lobby during #IndyFurCon this year. Even got a bit of notice while hashing out some more Solkai concepts.
Thanks for the words of encouragement, @lewistheelf.bsky.social!

Guess who's now got a VR rig?
This rudderbutt right here! Now I have even MORE distractions! XD
Seriously though, I really wanna try my paw at creating my own VRChat avatars and worlds. I've already got ideas for Solkai templates.

Steadily getting more serious about this idea as concepts come to me in my free time. Besides Solkai, I've got... modular dino-dragons, electro-kitties, living-stone horses, medically-attuned sneks, "hell goats", trickster jackalopes, cyborg shark-rays, and oviparous rabbit/squirrel/quokka hybrids.
Creating the Solkai is fun! I dunno if I have the attention span to create more species, but--
*two days later*
...I have twelve more unique species in varying stages of development....
What have I gotten myself into.
#FurryWriter
(hmm, maybe I could create a tabletop RPG setting out of these)

I'm flitting across like four different art projects, but here's one near completion: Solkai Ael! Well, an experimental head sketch, at least. There would be a few different color gradients to add later. Also need to make some adjustments to the snoot.

I have two settings where public nudity is completely normal: New Atlantis (solarpunk fantasy) and the world of Solkai (frutiger aero sci-fi). Everyone's covered in fur/feathers/scales, so they're already comfortable. Clothing is considered little more than decoration.

World Building Wednesday: What is your OCs' setting's relationship to nudity? Nudity in general, public nudity, is it something that's only seen in the movies/theater outside the home on rare occasion, is it common on statuary, are there street fairs or parades? Etc.

I decided I'd better write all this down before I forget, and maybe another tale will reveal itself after enough time. Despite the fact I'm writing a completely different story at the same time as this, I can't help but wonder where my travels on Vaesera (the Solkai homeworld) might lead me...

Rather, as I envisioned (or maybe isekai'd myself into?) this new world, the story began writing itself faster than I could record it all. I was a visitor and it welcomed me. Those two characters on the first page of the Solkai ref post? They were the first to introduce themselves: Saturn & V.

Ever since I'd developed my Solkai species, I used a similar exercise to place myself in their world as one of them (yes I have a Solkai-sona! I'll reveal him later) and see what happened as I wandered through.
Interestingly enough, I didn't originally intend to use this as a writing exercise.

Lately I was inspired to try creating an original species. I gathered various traits I found appealing and mixed them all together to create:
The Solkai.
Given my name is a reference to the light and glory of the sun, it fits that my own species is solar-powered :p
