As a journalist and historian, I have incredible admiration for Aboriginal Australian songlines

The commitment to fidelity and detail is astounding

This story, in particular, completely blew my mind:
Modern science discovered these ancient artefacts, confirming millennia-old Songlines
Songlines from at least 22 Aboriginal nations around the continent predate sea level rises from thousands of years ago.

I never walk more than when I’m in London. Hours a day. Streets I know, streets I don’t… it’s almost like the Aboriginal Songlines, and if I don’t regularly come back to my city & walk it, London will cease to exist. And in a way, with its constant inexorable morphing, maybe it WOULD disappear.

"Murujuga is home to my people’s culture and is also the beginning point for songlines, which is home to other people’s cultures.”

Songlines are a map of a story throughout the landscape.

This knowledge is then passed on to other groups and carried on throughout the land."

SONGLINES for Younger Readers

I am really chuffed by this review of 'Songlines for Younger Readers'. It encapsulates exactly the reason Margo and I wrote both the adult 'Songlines: the power and promise', and this Younger Readers version.

Australians claim colonisation & settlement was a peaceful, harmonious handing over of lands.

It was a struggle & genocide.

Land is STILL taken coercively. NWShelf project is a prime example.
