And yet... definitely one spad has suggested this. Done a PowerPoint. Written a memo. Talked about it in after drinks at a fringe event.

It's a rhetorical question because the answer is: you're not allowed to be a SPAD unless you've done PPE at Oxford, and you're not allowed to be an MP unless you're a SPAD, and PPE at Oxford accepts as a bone deep article of faith that there must be Spiv Layer between the public and their needs.

Několik dní budeme sledovat dynamiku Marsu. Včera jsme si tu psali, jak je to skvělé, že je ve Lvu, jak události dostanou spád a jak si teď budeme všímat všeho, co se šustne a také to řešit promptně.

I don't know what this counts for but my guess would be the average spad is far more likely to have a Master's (maybe less likely to have a doctorate) than 25 years ago - just because of credential inflation.

Here's a pic (by me) of the SPAD XIII displayed in the "FWW in the Air" gallery at NASM's museum on the Mall in DC. It was flown in combat by US ace Ray Brooks, who gained the last 2 of his 6 victories in her.

Though I say this all the time and I haven't lost access to politicians. They're just not going to do it... (tbf I don't want to be a SPAD).

It’s also a really bad alignment of incentives.
The obvious answer to a lot of UK policy problems is: you need to raise taxes.
If you say ‘well, you need to raise broad based taxes’ you risk losing access to politicians as an institution and, very basically, make yourself harder to hire as a Spad.

Designed to fulfill the Indian Army's tracked/wheeled air-defense mandate (SPAD-GMS) to replace aging Shilkas, protect mechanized columns, and shield strategic assets like S-400 batteries against drone swarms and cruise missiles.

Suggested after 'quiet bat people' I reckon. Some spad went 'Er... Hope... again?'

I think so, the authentcity is enhanced as we can usually tell if its SPAD job and AI . However I also think Chris Philp does his own too....................

... which reminds me of a certain SPAD who spent quite some time in Russia.

Jag är så jävla imponerad över 10-åringen.
Hon är rätt kort och väldigt späd för sin ålder men handskas med ridklubbens största häst Jojje utan problem.

Idag: full gallopp och hon var ÖVERLYCKLIG efteråt 😍

I get a mixture of SPaD dreams and Station overrun dreams. Always stressful to wake up from.
September 26, 2026 at 11:44 AM
I used to do weather observations. Long after I finished I had dream of having to do an ob, but couldn't leave my chair. Though the real thing would have been embarrassment, unlike a SPaD.
September 26, 2026 at 11:31 AM
SPaD dream last night. Very real. Ruined my day. Then I was driving a bus 😁 🤷🏻‍♂️

28 years in, and still having SPaD dreams! When will it ever end?! 🔴

Are they even that lucrative any more? Maybe Michael Deacon gets 6 figures for cranking one out daily but I can't imagine a weekly column from a no-mark former SPAD is worth more than a base article rate

(His X post promoting it has 24 likes. My Chelsea transfers post has twice that on here)
