Based on Turning Red and a lot of the SparkShorts, the creatives at Pixar have had plenty of diverse stories they've genuinely wanted to tackle and get right. I hate that Disney keeps shutting them down and will probably send them back to the sequel mills.

Mira los SparkShorts o la serie 'En la victoria o en la derrota'. Pixar quiere experimentar con la animación, contar nuevas historias, jugar con lo que hace, seguir emocionando. El problema es que su casero le sube el alquiler y le obliga a hacer tareas en las que claramente está incómoda.

Yo como un bobo defendiendo a Pixar por creer que el estudio que ha hecho 'Out', 'Loop' o 'Self' (en sus Sparkshorts) no podía estar detrás del borrado sistémico de personajes LGTB o de reducir la protección por el medio ambiente en 'Hoppers'. Pero mira, sí. En ifn.

I believe Disney+ still has the shorts "The Little Match Girl" and "Destino", intended for a third Fantasia film circa 2006, and yeah. (Hint: "Destino" works off of plans for an aborted Disney-Dali project.)

Madeline Sharafian worked as a story artist on Coco, Onward and Turning Red. She directed the short film Burrow as part of Pixar's Sparkshorts program. She co-directed Elio with Domee Shi after Adrian Molina stepped away due to story issues.

But it ended up being released on Disney+ like the other Sparkshorts following its cancelled theatrical release, but it still came out on the same day as Soul.

i actually quite like when pixar gets autobiographical/personal. like when the sparkshorts came out immediately after lassetter left and the first one was about a woman (ball of yarn) in a male dominated workplace

it fucking shows how quickly Disney has lost ANY sense of teeth in the last couple years (not like they had much in the first place but it SEEMED they were getting somewhere)

it fucking shows how quickly Disney has lost ANY sense of teeth in the last couple years (not like they had much in the first place but it SEEMED they were getting somewhere)
