I’ve used a Speedy Stitcher sewing awl to hand sew quite thick leather. It’s slow but works quite well. Usually use a thick waxed nylon thread.

Interesting look into a program, note all the work shoreside by the loft, the Sika didn't seem to set up, the scrim looks too light at least at the tear zone. Speedystitcher makes an appearance. Boats without rudder foils seem to balance on the leeward stern, bow up.

get a speedystitcher awl. be careful about any reactions between metals on the pen and the tannins in the leather. or you can go for canvas.
