I do think you should be polite to the machines not because they're people but because barking orders to your home spybot (which might have a person behind it) affects how you treat human service workers.
Star Wars has that whole "why are you being polite to droids" and there's the entirety of Westworld and every other instance of dehumanization that is somehow mistaken for "those machines are people"

While I am reluctant to speak for others, I cannot see any personal need for a spybot who summarises my discussions with friends and then dispatches these summaries to a corporate archive intended to monitor the political inclinations of citizens.

its fine, i put the taskbar back where it should be and shutup ten works on it, as well as spybot anti beacon.
my wifi 7 driver only worked on 11, its the only reason this system changed over. gigabit over wifi.

I distinctly remember a shift in the early-mid 2000s when suddenly this went from annoying but harmless pop-ups to ads actively infecting your pc with spyware and malware. It sticks out because suddenly I was The Computer Guy to everyone I knew because I knew how to download and run spybot
