A minor car-crash means I'll be staying local for a while (no damage to me luckily) - but I found treasure on my doorstep during an afternoon walk to Thorpe Hall - a group 17 Cedar Cups - and quite a lot of holes suggesting others may have already been eaten by squirrels...

Mason jar lid cut to fit with some Gorilla glue to fix it in place to stop the squirrels 🐿️ chewing on the cedar wood. Should be set up in about an hour or so. Wet the wood to activate the glue.

I absolutely love this idea! My bedroom looks out over some garages. How, erm, natural! But behind is a a massive old cedar plus a number of bushes and trees. And I do see a lot of wildlife - thrushes, tits, robins, corvids, tawny owls, red kites flying over, a couple of ducks, foxes, squirrels… 1/3

deters squirrels/rats with capsaicin-based heat but #birds aren’t bothered since they can barely taste it. I don’t know what these Portuguese Laurel berries taste like but when they're ripe, the Cedar Waxwings descend into the neighborhood to feast & gorge. Their high-pitched whistles fill the air.

I travelled to see the Wise Old Squirrel in the Wise Old Cedar Tree and ask him about my fate. He demanded a peanut. I laid down my offering. The fat bastard grabbed it and ran off. Haven't seen him since. I think I've been scammed.

Birds! Had a flock of cedar waxwings in the trees, and found a robin sitting in a nest that is, given the way they’re chasing off squirrels, full of eggs 🪶

Good morning. 🌱 Clematis 'Betty Corning' www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/... vigorously growing from container on garden fence. Unfortunately, yesterday saw, there are two trees- Walnut and Cedar- growing between the pot and fence. Getting rid of those won't be easy. Damn squirrels.
