The 55-year-old was placed on leave and resigned after police announced the charges in late July 2024. SickKids emphasized that the allegations represent a breach of trust, stating the safety of patients and staff is their top priority. The hospital has engaged KPMG to review HR and IT governance practices, aiming to strengthen recruitment safeguards and monitor technology use. This incident follows another staffer, Dr. Dilan Dissanayake, facing similar charges last month. Both individuals are alleged to have sent explicit messages to minors through social media, though they did not work together. Police executed a search warrant in the Don Mills area, seizing electronic devices and documents. The hospital’s statement condemned the conduct as unacceptable, highlighting ongoing efforts to uphold ethical standards in healthcare.
