Strawberry Hill was built/decorated/expanded by Horace Walpole as one of the first Gothic revival buildings in the UK. It's FABULOUS. I feel a kinship.
A long gallery with red silk wall coverings and white and gold Gothic decoration. An oriel window with Tudor-themed stained glass and molded Gothic decoration on the ceiling and walls. A crazy Gothic fireplace in a library with ogival arches in front of the bookshelves. A stairhall, with four-lobed skylights in the roof and the walls papered with Gothic motifs.

Our application to upgrade the former Deptford Town Hall listing to Grade II* succeeded. It's a notable local landmark with a clock tower & rich stone carvings. Designed in an Edwardian Baroque style by the practice Lanchester, Stewart & Rickards, it was planned around the stair hall. bit.ly/3A0EoOC
The photo is by Robin Forster of the ornate and beautiful staircase and stairhall at the former Deptford Town Hall in South London. The railings are black straight and curved in design with a bronze coloured handrail. The steps are white stone and the overall colours are white and grey and blue, with grey and white marble columns lining the top landing. The ceiling has a richly moulded plaster design with oval and rectangles surrounding it decorated it in sky blue. The front wood door can be seen from the half landing of the staircase.
