#stakes
You heard it from Michigan's very own, Stevie Wonder. The stakes could not be higher in this fight for our future.

"Not the odds, but the stakes."
Every news organization in the U.S. should have as their top story from now through Tuesday some (probably more gently worded) variation of “Huge Stakes as Voters Choose Whether to Enable Trump or Rein Him In: Have They Had Enough of Autocracy, Corruption, and Chaos or Do They Want More?”

Congressman Jim Clyburn lays out the stakes in this election and the unmistakable power of even just one vote. One vote can change the course of history. Grateful for the Congressman's support and leadership.

McMorrow: "First of all, I have no idea what the hell Haley Stevens is doing. This is a moment where we have to recognize the stakes."

Michigan could very well be the state that flips control of the US Senate. Those are the stakes. Vote to send @abdulelsayed.bsky.social to the US Senate by 8pm today.

Quite literally life and death stakes. Burn in hell
Haley Stevens says she is endorsing Mike Rogers for the U.S. Senate

It's no longer left versus right, liberals versus conservatives or even Democrat versus Republican. It’s now democracy versus oligarchy. Freedom versus dictatorship. Right versus wrong. Know the stakes.

Get out the vote on November 3.

Today we find out if America’s high-stakes gamble on idiocy has finally run its course.

Know the stakes and vote accordingly.

Really a sign of low character to think that the stakes of a senate race as less important than your own wounded ego.
“Stevens, the Michigan Democrat who narrowly lost her party’s Senate primary in August, attended church services Sunday morning with Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers — a highly unusual move for a sitting Democrat in the waning days of a marquee race for a seat her party is fighting to hold”
Haley Stevens attends church with GOP’s Mike Rogers as Michigan Democrats feud
The appearance by Stevens, who narrowly lost Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary to Abdul El-Sayed, follows a public clash between the two over an outside group’s ad about Israel.

And, in fairness, a higher stakes argument than “might marginally raise your risk of throat cancer”

The problem with Dawntrail wasn't that it was "low stakes" because it really wasn't low stakes at all it was the highest stakes we've ever had to face actually. I don't know why it keeps getting pushed as beach vacation expansion because it just wasn't

THE STAKES IN THIS ELECTION COULD NOT BE HIGHER!

DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE DISTRACTED!!
There is exactly one news story right now. Every single news organization in America should feel it is their obligation to make sure that their audiences, their communities, understand how important Tuesday is. Everything else is a piffle.

And obviously that 2008 cycle was a presidential race with open primaries in both parties and then incredibly high stakes in the general. There was ample opportunity and reason for the superrich to spend money there.

And it's nothing by comparison to now. This is insane.
The 20 biggest donors this cycle have spent $2 BILLION on the midterms, the overwhelming majority of which has gone to help Republicans.

In the entire 2008 cycle, the last before Citizens United, total billionaire spending was $16 million.

We must get Big Money out of politics.

Seems like people actually learned something from the Mamdani fiasco. Meaningfully better response overall from lots of Dems this time around— helps that the stakes are higher.

I’m sorry that it’s happening in the context of a high stakes Senate race but as a connoisseur of “let me finally tell you about a bonkers person I had to work with” stories, the next 48 hours are gonna be a feast.

The United Stakes of America.
I really hate how gambling is being shoved into everything. This is my chromecast homescreen on my TV. It has a bet now button. I'm so sick of this shit.

I don’t understand people who say they don’t like small talk. I love small talk. Pleasant, brief, low-stakes conversations with neighbors and strangers? As good as it gets. Inject that shit into my veins.
