A wee visit to the #Meigle museum for #StandingStonesSunday

For #StandingStonesSunday my offering is the Aiggin Stone which can be found on Blackstone Edge on the @pennineway.bsky.social. A medieval waymarker, over 600 years old, with a Latin-style cross carved into it. Originally 7ft high, it now stands at approx 4ft. 📷 by me.

Here's a nice picture of mine of The Woolpacks & Crowden Tower taken in April 2015 for #StandingStonesSunday.

Too cheeky for #StandingStonesSunday?

Certainly not #FingerPostFriday is it?

Sad to think I clearly remember walking that (now diverted path) when it was the official @pennineway.bsky.social route into Ickornshaw. Happy days!

On this day, 10 years ago, I visited #Pompeii. A truly magical place to spend a day. #StandingStonesSunday 📷 by me

Lundin Links, Leven, on the women's golf course (I know, right?)
The groundsman told us he felt they were leaning at more of an angle than when he started working there 20+ years ago. One of the players said she had been told they were anchored by rocks and weren't deep set.

#StandingStonesSunday - one of many such constructions in the Charente.
I mean, how did they get that huge slab up there?
These stones are reckoned to have been several miles to this site. We don’t know how. We don’t really know why

Listen.
I would be perfectly happy if my feed were nothing but standing stones every day. Not just on #standingstonessunday
Menhir dit la Chaise-à-Margot: Margot's Chair - referring to fairies in Breton folklore. A smallish menhir #StandingStoneSunday which does indeed look like a seat. Part of the megalithic complex "La Lande du Gras" with 2 menhirs and 3 long barrows - see the nearby sites list on our page for more. 1/

For completeness sakes, here are the two remaining circles of the Druid Stones complex above Penmaenmawr in #Gwynedd. Neither in great condition. The first is small (kerb circle?) and roughly to the east of the main circle, (seen on the horizon). The other is to the west.

I took this photo of a Cornish wild horse and her new born Foal (Sleeping) in April of this year. They are both in the centre of Hurlers Stone Circles at Minions.
