Thanks. So much madness it’s easy to forget posts like this.

To be fair, ear growing is much slower for most folks.

Genesis P-Orridge first told me about Stelarc in the mid-90s and I got to attend one of his lectures at the Wexner Center several years later when he was in the planning stages for this project.
The performance artist who grew a third ear onto his arm
A look at the definition of performance art via the story of Stelarc, an artist who grew an ear onto his arm in the name of exploring the limits of the body.

Stelarc is a performance artist, but he does a lot of interesting biohacking-adjacent stuff.

I’m ready to infiltrate the Australian art scene. Justice Yeldham? I know of them! Severed Heads? You betcha! Stelarc? Can’t get enough of the guy!

❝ Stelarc 1981 yılından sonra vücut sanatını teknoloji ile birleştirerek geleceğin insanını muştulamış, bu doğrultuda birçok performans gerçekleştirmiştir. ❞

I guess an unhealthy mix of Terence McKenna and Stelarc after dropping out of drama school made me embark on a journey full of ridiculous things from bagpipe robots to Tarot cards. Looking forward to more decades of randomness.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Stelarc was a guest speaker at a fine arts college I failed out of in the early 90's. One thing that left a lasting impression on me was bio-engineering. He wanted to replace his organs with computers and have photosynthetic skin to use light as energy.

Also I met Stelarc in 2016 and it was also an amazingly humbling experience in how far behind my ideas were 🫶🏻.
Lol yeah I figured the ear had been longer and was going by the earliest date I could find for when it went digital rip.

Stelarc grew an ear on his arm in 2015 and connected it to the internet for all to listen to.

It's time for you babies to humble yourselves and catch TF up.

Watching this detailed debunk of Musk's Neuralink, I'm struck by how clear it is that he's not read a single thing about human-machine interfaces published since the late 90s. So much is reheated stuff that was trendy in the era of Stelarc, Haraway and Kevin Warwick.

In 2012, I was at Mozilla on the FirefoxOS phone. Stelarc was in town giving a talk, was invited to dinner with him. After talking about the body/tech work I was doing, he visited my workspace the next day. This picture happened.

Mozilla not using this as marketing is what cratered the phone.
