🔭Jim Daley continues to capture incredible solar prominence images, using his home-made coronagraph. Here are several as published on the Stellafane web site. Be sure to click each image to see it larger and read the captions.

Getting ready for some stargazing in the hills of Vermont at the annual Stellafane get-together. This looked like the only clear night, so I changed plans and came up earlier.

🔭Stellafane is one of the coolest places on the planet. More people should know about it, so I’m reposting this, which I promise you is worth 2:44 of your time. The place is 88 acres with multiple observatories. Much more at stellafane.org — dig the groovy retro website style. That site is HUGE.

🔭The most public-facing aspect of Stellafane is the Stellafane Convention, held each summer. This year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Stephen Sekula, of SNOLAB. He posted about the Porter Turret Telescope, the odd thing in the background of the video below.

Stellafane Convention attendees relax at the actual Stellafane, “shrine to the stars.” Much of the convention takes place at the nearby 80-acre Stellafane East campus, but the savvier guests come to pay respects to the century-old birthplace of popular amateur astronomy.

Here is a view near the center of the Milky Way in the southern sky I took with a 135mm camera lens at Stellafane in Springfield VT. It’s a smorgasbord of deep sky objects with M16, M17, M24, M25 & many others. This was about 2.75 hrs of data imaged with no filters. 🔭 #Astrophotography

For my fellow amateur astronomers in the Northeast, the registration for Stellafane is now open. It's August 1-4 in Springfield, VT, and features >1000 attendees, many of whom bring their own telescopes (some of them homemade). And the skies are darker than they are around Boston, for sure (!)
