I used to pick tulips and irises. Enjoy their beauty around the house for awhile.
Then, when they inevitably wilted, shriveled, then died. I would paint them.

I love watching fresh flowers slowly wilt and shrivel. A reminder of their former beauty...
And, paint them.

I've done a few edits of this shot, but this is the original colour.

1/3
A macro image of a burnt out cream pillar candle which was left outside resting on a green table. An assortment of organic bits have become caught in the wax (or possibly some spider web threads I can't see?) including a small light brown butterfly, a single translucent wing (dragonfly maybe?), the husk of a corn kernel, dried plant bits, charred bits of wick, and a fluffy seed carrier.

An edit done with the #ECKPalette in mind. The candle & organics were already fairly in line with shades of Unbleached Silk & Falu Red. Tried to shift the greens to Vermillion with mixed results.

A macro image of a burnt out cream pillar candle which was left outside resting on a metal table. The colour of the table and a bit of reflected colour in the centre of the candle have been digitally altered to a deep, rich red. I did attempt to tweek the dragonfly wing, but was not having a lot of luck with that and ended up leaving it.
