We are looking down the Stilluptal Valley in the Zillertal Alps. There is a triangle of sky in the top centre with mountains either side. These come down until they meet with the valley bottom in which there is a stream. The stream flows in on the bottom left corner and curves up and round until it disappears between the mountains. All is verdant and green other than either side of the stream which is rocky.

Breathtaking walk in the Stilluptal valley today. More lovely butterflies, including Thors Fritillary which was new for me. Large Blue and Chequered Skipper also great to see. Some cool beetlew too and the ever present wildflowers.

A landscape oriented image taken in the Zillertal Alps, Austria. On the bottom left an amazingly blue river flows into the image and continues until it bends and disappears, on the right is a path leading to a lovely wooden bridge that skirts rather than crosses the river, it’s to take you over a tributary, behind the bridge is a huge boulder, presumably deposited there by glacial action many years previously. Beyond the bridge and bolder are large conifers towering up towards the blue sky.

I saw lots of cool beetles in Austria. My favourite may have been this tiger beetle. I think it is Cicindela sylvicola, but there could be similar species and it is hard to find information online. There were a few of these flying along the path in the Stilluptal Valley.
