A chocolate brown Alpaca standing in a field gazing into the distance. It has been recently shorn so you can see the marks of the buzzer on its coat. It's ankles have been left a little bushier. Extra Info: Alpacas are primarily raised for their luxurious and soft fleece, which is used to create a variety of textile products. They are also sometimes used for guarding livestock, as therapy animals, and for agritourism experiences. Additionally, alpaca manure is a valuable soil amendment. A creamy white Alpaca standing in a field looking at the photographer. It has been recently shorn so you can see the marks of the buzzer on its coat. Its ankles have been left a little bushier. Behind are some bushes, a wire fence and some trees. Extra Info: Fiber Production: Alpaca fleece is highly sought after for its softness, warmth, and hypoallergenic properties, making it ideal for clothing, blankets, and other textiles. Livestock Guarding: Alpacas can be surprisingly effective at guarding other livestock like sheep and chickens from predators like foxes. Therapy Animals: Alpacas, along with llamas, are increasingly being used in animal-assisted therapy in hospitals and nursing homes to help reduce pain, anxiety, and depression. Agritourism: Alpaca farms often offer tours, walks, and educational experiences, providing a unique and enjoyable way for people to interact with these animals. Manure: Alpaca manure is a natural fertilizer that can be used to enrich soil in gardens and on farms. Low-Maintenance Pets: While not traditional pets, alpacas can be kept as livestock and are relatively low-maintenance compared to some other farm animals.
