Right when I moved to New York and was reading those free daily papers, I kept seeing the word "straphangers." In my head I pronounced it "stra-fahn-jers" and I thought they were a particularly beleaguered lobby of commuters. I'm a fucking moron.

The ubiquity of unwell people at the margins of society on the NYC is very real and some of them are potentially dangerous. I just don’t think straphangers killing them is the best we can do.
