For white folk this is a class and generational war that they cannot win without ending racism. It’s that simple.

Either end racism or watch your children’s ceiling reduced to lower class. Subdued by white South African immigrants btw.

Thanks so much. I wonder if NZ/Ao had a similar response to the Christchurch massacre that Australia did, where the overt ethnonationalist and particularly the Islamophobia propaganda was subdued for a bit. Back in force in recent years of course.

Thanks for those. Fascinating path. 😣

Out of 634 cases studied, 374 ended before police arrived. Among those, 29 ended when armed civilians shot the attacker. In another 31 incidents, civilians subdued the attacker by some other method, such as wrestling them to the ground or removing the weapon.

If you really want to be sure it's a fash, look for the subdued black-and-gray flag, or a "Punisher" decal.

FPL here tonight is fairly subdued and that has a lot to do with most of us owning 3 Chelsea attackers.
It's sensible play but really takes the wind out your sails when that many blank early doors.

I was there too. It was a bit more subdued that some previous rallies but still a respectable turnout on a nice albeit breezy fall day here in SoCal.

“And I!” said Lord Godalming, each of them in turn kneeling to her to take the oath. I followed, myself. Then her husband turned to her wan-eyed and with a greenish pallor which subdued the snowy whiteness of his hair, and asked:--

As for accents, Hiddleston does a pretty good job of his, wisely keeping it subdued and not veering in to ‘Hunt For The Wilderpeople’ territory. Dafoe, however, seems to be playing the British expedition leader Hunt with bits of his Van Helsing accent from Nosferatu

A great performance today, although Wimbledon did not cover themselves in glory. Hillsborough was a happy stadium, if somewhat subdued given the 5-0 result. Perhaps the almost complete lack of jeopardy gave the game a routine feel. #SWFC

UK Hiring Confidence Drops to 15% as Rising Labor Costs and Regulations Limit Job Creation
Confidence among UK businesses about hiring has dropped to 15% in 2026, down from 24% in 2025, as rising employment costs, regulatory pressures, and subdued demand weigh on recruitment and workforce investment. The findings come from the CBI/Pertemps Employment Trends Survey 2026 and highlight growing concerns about job opportunities, particularly for young people entering the labor market. Labor costs were identified as the biggest threat to the competitiveness of the UK labor market by 73% of surveyed businesses, followed by employment regulations at 72%. Four in five businesses said the government's Make Work Pay plan would be unaffordable without negatively affecting economic growth, investment, employment, or employee benefits. Financial pressures are also affecting training and entry-level recruitment. Approximately 53% of businesses reported offering fewer apprenticeships than they would like, while 44% said rising recruitment and onboarding costs were pushing them toward hiring experienced workers. Another 45% reported insufficient demand to justify creating additional entry-level positions. Half of employers said reducing regulatory requirements for apprenticeships would improve the system, and 35% said cost pressures were squeezing training budgets and encouraging them to recruit candidates who require little or no additional training. The survey also revealed concerns about the UK's attractiveness as a place to invest and do business. Only 1.7% of respondents said the labor market had become more attractive over the previous five years, while 65.3% said it had become much less attractive. Nearly 79% expected conditions to deteriorate further without measures to improve competitiveness. Employers' National Insurance contributions were identified as the largest cost pressure. Businesses are also preparing for an expected 3.7% increase in the National Living Wage in 2027, taking it to £13.18 per hour. In response, 39% of firms anticipated raising prices, 29% expected to reduce employment, and 22% planned to cut business investment. Only 47% expected to increase pay in line with or above inflation at their next review, compared with 70% in 2024. CBI Chief Executive Rain Newton-Smith warned that higher employment costs and regulatory burdens were discouraging hiring and investment, with consequences for living standards and young people's career prospects. Pertemps Chair Carmen Watson similarly highlighted subdued demand and continuing uncertainty as factors making employers more cautious about recruitment, pay, and workforce development.

Thank you, Sheena. We think he's going to be okay but he's still very subdued. So not his personality. 😞

I am sitting on the floor with #Nat. He wants to go snuggle with Lynn but he won't let me pick him up and I won't let him jump up there. So, the floor it is.
He's very subdued but he has been outside a couple of times, has had a couple of ice cubes and a few bits of leftover pork chops. 🤞🤞🤞

It is what it is - I appreciate what you've done in buying other lines and keeping them supported. If I hadn't run out of Green Stuff I might try putting more subdued mask ties on them!

Following yesterday's music post and because I just had it come on in my playlist: One of my favorite Ado songs. It's a bit more subdued than a lot of her other songs, though it's not like slow. I think that's why it gets overlooked a bit, but it's so beautiful
