This is an informative article. We release aerosols, with submicron particles (0.1–1 µm) dominating when we speak, whisper, sing, shout etc.

That’s why an N95 respirator is a good way to stop submicron particles from passing from our mouth and nose to others. And protects us from the aerosols generated by others.
Easy peasy.
Don’t get COVID.
Get vaccinated.
Wear an N95 respirator.
Clean the air we all breathe.

New science for #ClimateSky. @washuengineers.bsky.social researchers estimated the submicron particle distribution over the United States. These are the tiniest of pollution particles and thus have the capacity to have more negative effects on human health. engineering.washu.edu/news/2025/Ti... 🧪
Tiny and toxic: Researchers track smaller air pollution particles across U.S. skies
To help understand air pollution health effects, researchers at Washington University in St. Louis quantify how the amount of submicron particles in the air has changed over the past 25 years.

submicron diamond paste arrived! this is the result after .18

I had to go back and take down some microfacets but they're basically gone now

Turns out restaurants are a significant source of air pollution in London, due to emissions of biomass burning organic aerosol from the use of charcoal and wood as cooking fuel.
How COVID-19 related policies reshaped organic aerosol source contributions in Central London
Abstract. Organic aerosol (OA), a major component of submicron particulate matter (PM1), has significant impacts on both human health and climate. Quantifying its sources is therefore crucial for deve...

Steve Rudnick described the theory behind this phenomenon in a paper in Aerosol Science and Technology in 2004. For submicron particles, he estimated that 82% efficiency was optimal.

MERV-13 filters are available with the IDENTICAL pressure restriction as the MERV 9A filters, yet have 10-fold better(!) filtration of submicron particles like wildfire smoke. Why did the "professional consultant" recommend MERV 9A?

Hello #AcademicBsky hivemind! Is there anyone out here (preferably from Australia / nearby) who uses FIB or BE lithography at submicron resolution on materials like quartz, and might be interested in collaborating with us on a cool new project?

Happy to take recommendations. 🧪 🔬
