VA mental health services were already in crisis thanks to Mission+PACT+subsequent underresourcing; unless you had very serious MH issues (like schizophrenia, daily sucidal ideation, severe ptsd) the best they could do is counseling so infrequent to be useless and chuck antidepressants at you
