So far, May 2026 has been desperately poor for the volume of migrant birds in Shetland. Yet there are always highlights, and Sumburgh has given me two: a smart Red-throated Pipit at Sumburgh Head last week and an equally dapper Bluethroat near Sumburgh hotel today.
