"superintelligence" is such a weird fucking shibboleth but it does pretty clearly indicat ideas are downstream of the rationalists on this one

I do not believe superintelligence exists in the generalized way that it seems most people conceive of: in which superintelligence is unaccountable to ethical thought and reasoning, destined to render all human efforts and statuses obsolete, and otherwise elicits fears of Darwinian replacement.

Google denying search for schools that won't sell their students out to Gemini should be a Haley Stevens moment. Like let's get Google the fuck out of our schools, yesterday. And not to be replaced by Microsoft's so-called "humanist superintelligence," either 🙄. Replace it with the library.

Banning data center buildouts or passing anti-ai superintelligence bills in my view has little to do with what actually happens. As underlying technology grows more efficient, as clean electricity production rises to meet demand, we'll keep drawing distinctions disputing "true" AI superintelligence.

What happens to all the tech companies who switched over to using “superintelligence?” They going to quietly switch back?

Super intelligence, or superintelligence, is a name change meant to distract from the very human problems with AI.

Starting to see some deep conspiracy theorizing within online communities on the right about "EO 13848" and the Trump administration using "superintelligence" in the coming weeks to find evidence of election manipulation. Some mid X influencers engaging, but no pick-up from political elites.
